FAQ: About San Miguel Life

By Kathleen Bohné

“What is your top recommendation for living an active San Miguel life?”

Ann:

My advice for an active San Miguel life is to get involved in the community. What better way to meet new people and find your group?! Whatever interests you, trust me, there are others you can connect with here. For example, my husband Jim is an avid equestrian, and horseback-riding has been a way for our family to stay connected over the last 15 years. We have developed many long-lasting friendships not only here in San Miguel, but also in the region. The scenery on the trail rides can be breathtaking. Whether they enjoy tennis, photography, cycling, or golf, our friends have found and fostered community through these activities and enjoy them immensely.

Nancy:

In my active San Miguel life at 75, I would say staying healthy is simple… it’s just not easy. It focuses on balance, building muscle, and movement. The other three days I work out with a group of four ladies, and we do yoga, strength, and stretching. Liz is highly trained and meticulous with the detail of each exercise or movement, and my workouts are never the same. Fitness training not only keeps me strong, it keeps my brain alert, and I highly recommend working with Liz or another qualified trainer.

Amber:

As a working mom of two young children, my life feels very active! While I do not have time to go to the gym much, my family and I enjoy going to Los Senderos many weekends to swim, take a walk, paddle-board, or just kick a ball around and play. Los Senderos is also a wonderful option for cycling, and they have an obstacle course too. It is a great place for the whole family to spend a day being active, and it’s only a 10-minute drive out of town. You can purchase a family membership or day pass, but you do need to make a reservation in advance.
