Works will begin on the Bulevar de la Libertad

In his fifth government report, Governor Diego Sinhue Rodríguez Vallejo claimed that the Bulevar de la Libertad construction would finally begin this year to improve connectivity between San Miguel de Allende and Dolores Hidalgo. This work has been touted since 2020 with an investment of 2 billion pesos. The Governor also announced that work would resume completing the Silao-San Miguel de Allende-Dolores Hidalgo highway, which has taken more than ten years to complete.

The state hosted a Taekwondo selection event toward the CONADE 2023 Games

With more than 2,500 attendees, San Miguel de Allende once again hosted a sporting event at the state level, hosting the Taekwondo State Select Team for the CONADE 2023 Games. The event took place from Friday, March 3, through Sunday, March 5, at the Baby Vázquez sports module. The municipality hosted the competition for local and visiting competitors. The winners of each category in poomsae (forms) and combat became part of the Taekwondo State Team.

The Citizen of the Year 2023

In an emotional Rotary Club of San Miguel de Allende meeting on March 7 at the Public Library facilities, Leticia Fernández de Noyola was recognized as 2023 Citizen of the Year. Currently, Leticia Fernández is President of the Red Cross. Since the beginning of her management, Red Cross has expanded its operations, including 14 ambulances, 21 employees, and more than 250 volunteers. Among the programs, they have implemented a temporary house for people in an emergency, COVID tests, an optical center, and a pharmacy. During the same event, the Rotary group paid tribute to the memory of Donna Foudray.

Zuill Bailey (Grammy Winner) and William Ransom

On March 17 and 18, a cello and piano concert will be performed by Zuill Bailey, one of the world’s best cellists. He has played with important symphony orchestras like Los Angeles and Chicago. He won a Grammy for best solo performance for his recording of Michael Daugherty’s «Tales of Hemingway,» which he played on his last visit here. His celebrated album «Bach Cello Suites» was number one on the Billboard classical charts. The concert will be at 5pm at Saint Paul’s Anglican Church, Cardo 6. 

Classic of Viñedos San Miguel

The Mexican Riding League presents its second contest from March 23 to 26, 2023. The competition will take place at Viñedos San Francisco in San Miguel de Allende. Manuel Esparza, the FEI 3 designer who has spent the last five years designing in the United States and Canada, will be in charge of the layout of the tracks.
